During an Overshot workshop at Loom Studio I fell hard for tone on tone and knew that I wanted to create a project that used these colours and an overflowing pattern. The loom set up was labour intensive but once I started weaving I was in my element. The finishing stitch is a hem stitch and the long fringe felt perfect to complete the blooming leaf flower repeat pattern augmented by Carol Ann Apilado.

I am pleased with the finished mug rugs and sampler at the end. I will definitely explore this weaving technique again using much bolder colours.

While making these samples, I played with pattern and colour - and in the first two patterns I forgot to repeat each bloc three times. ;) My next task is to weave two 6’x6’ Mug Rugs. I am excited to mix the patterns and switch up the colours sampled below.

My Project Sampler explored four different patterns. I made a few mistakes but overall I am pleased with my progress on the Nilus Leclerc 6 shaft loom.
