Raced to Death: The Sorry Life of the Thoroughbred Horse

This 3 minute film depicts the activities of live racing at Woodbine race
track to make visible the experiences of the horses, in particular thoroughbreds. Woodbine is one of the largest employers in Rexdale, ON with a
staff of approximately 750 and a barn that houses over 2500 horses that are bred and trained to race.
Although I take objection to horse racing or any sports that force animals
to work for human gain, I witnessed a tenderness between a horse and a trainer that was palpable. These moments explore the tension that
complicates animal exploitation and problematizes human/animal relationships.
